Valentines Day Blitz

I am not really a fan of Valentines Day; however I love the decorations because they can be pink.  It is really the only time I can decorate with pink, since I am not the only one living in the house.  lol

I have started a few crafts, both with burlap of course, my new favorite thing.  Check them out.

1st is a pillow stenceled with Love and a matching banner for over my fireplace.  Really so easy and fun.

New A B C Beanbags

I created these for my little guy.  He is just turning three and learning his alphabet.  There is abean bag for every letter in the alphabet.  I use them for recognition as well as play a few games.  ( Toss me the B).  So fun and yet easy to make.  Fabric squares filled with beans and an Iron on letter.  Love them!!

Next time I am bringing a truck....

I was in rustic heaven at the Rose Bowl Flee Market.  If I had a truck, I could have easliy filled it up with many rustic finds.  I managed to get a black bread box that I plan on putting my own touch on and a small Paris sign.  I can't wait to go next month.

My current addiction.

My current addiction are all these crafty websites.  Pinterest I hate YOU.  You take up all my time.  I have never seen so many ideas on one website, it is crazy isn't it.  My new favorite thing is BURLAP.  I have made burlap pillows, burlap table runners, burlap curtain ties, burlap pictures frames.  what more could I do with burlap.

Another Burlap creation:

Last year, and how it all started.

Well it was tax season last year when I decided to go look at the antique stores in Orange, and tour model homes in our area.  (Martha Stewart decorating didn't help).   It was more of a fun way to get ideas.  I have always loved trying to re-create what I have seen in a less expensive kinda way.  Then that night I happened to see a 1900's sideboard  on ebay that was old, rustic, and had a charm to it.  The price was awesome, so I bid and I won.  I picked it up the next day at an antique store in Costa Mesa, Ca, where it was marked twice what I had paid.  I was so excited to get it home.  I tend to get these ideas in my head, and then I thought about the paint colors in the model homes.  Needless to say, the next day was a trip to home depot and a kitchen painting day.  My ideas continued to flow, and I was sewing, staining, painting and putting things together.  And in the end I had a blah kitchen turned into what I like to call a breath of rustic air.  A light green paint, an old window turned into a chalkboard, a burlap and ruffled table-runner, handsewn cushions for the stained and white-washed picnic table. (yes, a picnic table for a dining room table., The kids still love it) and a battery operated candle in a rustic lantern for a centerpiece.  Wa-La. (simple, but I loved it.
